Post war houses in Southbourne Gardens

Southbourne Gardens Pre-Fab Houses
Soon after the second world war a number of "PreFab" houses were erected on Southboune Gardens.

There were others towards the bottom of Victoria Road and in Seymour Gardens in Eastcote.

They were thought to have been built (and with a lot of asbestos) soon after 1945 and demolished around 1963.

There are now low rise flats and maisonettes with garage blocks on the site which is opposite where Southbourne School used to stand. One of them, or at least something very similar, can be seen at the Chiltern Open Air Museum.

There is more reading from the links towards the foot of this page.
