Closed in 2016. Lost their late night entertainment licence because of trouble.

BAR 101

Formerly Alton's the outfitters and school uniform shop in Ruislip High Street now a trendy pub, Bar 101 is owned by the same people that have The Woodman in Joel Street in Eastcote. From the day it opened it seems to have had a bad press with complaints of noise and late night nefarious antics in the High Street until the small hours. In 2016 the late licence was revoked and things have turned quieter it seems. At the time of writing (July 2016) its future as a bar is unknown.

With its loud music (sometimes live bands) this pub was aimed at the younger set and attracts them in droves. Used to get very busy especially at weekends, queues to get in were not unheard of!

Where it is, by road

Midway between Ickenham Road / Midcroft cross roads and the traffic lights at King Lodge in Ruislip High Street. There is no car park and apart from parking outside, outside of the restricted times, little parking locally. If you choose to park where you should not, or not pay in the local pay and display car park, where the nearest is accessed from Kingsend, then be warned that wardens patrol on mopeds so fast that Jasper Carrot would be hard pushed to keep up.

Real ale

Access via public transport

Good. Five minutes walk from Ruislip tube station and several buses stop close by. See the travel section on the Special Links page

Pub Crawl Potential

Good. The George is five minutes away (out the door and turn right), or left to The Crock of Gold You could also walk to The Orchard and the White Bear via Ickenham Road (out, right and across the road) but this leaves you with less options for public transport. Better to start there and work back...

Comments below from it's time as Sweeneys

Ruislip Online review

Wooden floors, high stools and plenty of standing areas mean this pub can cram them in. If you are going out for a quiet pint then don't go here! However, if you are young and looking for a vibrant night out this could be the place for you!

Danny the manager and all his staff always make my wife and I feel very welcome. Some of the pictures of my old town ( Dublin ) make me feel at home. The beer is good and reasonably priced. With two large TV's and a drop down screen you get a good view of all the Football ,GAA etc...They also have a good air condition system. Most other pubs I've visited in Ruislip (especially when it's warm ) are very uncomfortable as they get very warm.

Sweeney's gets my vote (stop press, see below!).

Well after my last visitors views things have changed dramatically in Sweeney's. The younger members of staff still make us feel welcome (while they are still working there -- staff turnover is quite high there), but the manager just grunts (When he recognises us).

The beer is poor now too. You'd see more life on Mars than you would in a pint of larger in Sweeney's. Would it be possible to remove my previous visitors views as I no longer think Sweeney's deserves that praise?

Paul A

I think Sweeneys is a lovely pub very friendly and always good at the weekend, with itís live music and local friendly people!! If you wanted a good local night out I would tell you to go to Sweeney on a Saturday night.

I agree wholeheartedly with Paul A's comment about the manager at Sweeney's. While the rest of the staff are usually very nice, he is an unpleasant and obnoxious character who doesn't even grunt in a friendly manner. And heaven forbid that you might want to watch a sport on TV that he doesn't agree with! You won't find me in there again.

Danny the old manager is no longer in this premises. Joey the new manager (see below!) is friendly and chatty. Also I have been drinking here for a year now and have never had a bad pint so pop in and experience the new and improved Sweeneys

Joey is no longer the manager however it is still a great little pub and along with the beer and the large TVís they now do food and itís fantastic. Alison (the Chef) is pleasant and her food is second to none in Ruislip, especially on a Sunday. I cannot fault her food. Sweeneyís is on the up people.
