Times House in Ruislip was built as the headquarters for Times Furnishing and Willerby Tailoring. That company ceased using the building (ceased trading??) and for a number of years the building was let and sub let as offices. It seems like it could never be filled, the "Offices To Let" board nailed to the front of the building had an element of permanence about it.

(Ruislip Online is grateful to Stephen Hampson for the following information.

Times Furnishing/Willerby Tailoring left Times House in about 1977 . Originally owned by The Jacobs Family it then passed on to Greater Universal Stores and ended its life after ownership of The Harris Queensway Group. At its peak in 1986 The Times Furnishing business traded from around 300 high street shops . The growth of out of town furnishing businesses resulted in the company's eventual demise in the late 1980's.)

Anyway, in 1999 the building was totally gutted and with only the main framework remaining was then re-built as luxury flats. With a railway to the rear, bus garage to the side and main road right in front of them I am not sure where the word luxury starts and finishes and having never been in one can only imagine what they are like at the lower levels for noise!

Such a shame that nobody can be bothered to plant out the flower bed by the lights, even more so that they even built it, as these luxury flats have, as their frontispiece, a weed and rubbish filled "trough".

So, what is it like living in the penthouse? Well below is the view from the window!

This is the view looking "up" Ruislip High Street. The large building on the horizon to the left of centre in the new Thomas More Building, built where Sainsburys once stood. It contains only flats.

This is the view looking up Kingsend. Many houses and small "roads" have been slotted in on the right of the road over the years.

The is again a view up the High Street, well in a manner of speaking. The flat roofs to the left are on the back of the shops and the row of garages lead up to Brickwall Lane.

This is the view down Pembroke Road towards Ruislip Manor. The roof in the foreground is on the "Fanuc" building built a few years ago on the car park that use to run down alongside the bus garage

This is the view of the actual station, through the trees, and the houses down from there. The tiny bright green section on the upper left of the "houses" is most likely part of the pitch at Wealdstone FC (formerly Ruislip Manor FC).
